The trade routes provoking new
wars
For the powers in the Mid East - not
important which it is, Assyria, Mesopotamia, Babylonia, or
Persia - now is growing a profitable Arab trade. So, these
trade routes become one of the main criterions of policy
now. Safety and disponability of the trade routes have
first priority for the Empires of the Mid East (p.288).
Gaza for example is rated as a customs
zone of Assyria - that is said in a victory inscription of
the Assyrian king Tiglath Pileser III. Gaza is the
traditional terminal station of the desert routes where
the caravan routes are coming together (p.288).
