Even a pedophile turned to Pittet
Pittet has now spoken with about 30 victims and even a pedophile. «This was a family man who suffers incredibly. He does not live out his passion fortunately, but his fantasies constantly revolve around his daughter. I urged him to see a psychiatrist. "

Psychotherapy for 220,000 Swiss Francs
Nuoffer starts psychotherapy. It lasts 20 years and costs around 220,000 Swiss Francs. This is eleven times as much as the maximum amount he could demand from the Church today as a satisfaction. But the money and the time are worth it. Nuoffer, a psychologist by profession, has faced his sorrow. Today he is liberated from his fears, his life is no longer dictated unconsciously by his past.
One day, however, a friend tells him to understand that in order to come to terms with himself, he has to file a criminal complaint. But the incident is barred, and the tormentor no longer lives. Nuoffer seeks out the bishop, wants more information and an admission of guilt. Determined and persistent, he pursues this idea. But the Catholic Church reacted blue-eyed, indifferent and unassuming.
For Nuoffer this behavior equates to another abuse. As a reaction, he founds the association Sapec. "Despite all the setbacks, this years-long struggle is bearing fruit." There is still a lot of work to do, but today victims could turn to a neutral commission that deserves the name. "That is the greatest satisfaction for me", says the Fribourg man, who has now left the church.
«The events are breaking me»
Mr. Jean-Marie Fürbringer is working better with the processing of his destiny. When he realized in 1995 that his tormentor might still be abusing children, he filed a criminal complaint. Even the acts against Fürbringer are already time barred, but it does him good to be heard by a minor judge and a psychologist.
Mr. Fürbringer, now himself a father of a family, was abused several times in autumn 1974 in the Franciscan home of the town of Saint Maurice (canton Valais). His tormentor: Father Joël, who years before had also abused Daniel Pittet and dozens of other boys.
"At that time, I escaped him by just going to study elsewhere. But the events broke me. I had a fucking youth. I was alone and trapped in my sadness", says Fürbringer, still visibly moved. Like his friend Nuoffer, he becomes a father at the age of 31, and things are changing for him as well.
Suddenly, the physicist feels an unprecedented rage. He joins Espas, an association dedicated to victims of sexual abuse. In October 1995, Fürbringer takes courage and uses the opportunity to confront his tormentor.

The attacks occurred between the 1950s and the 1990s, as Radio Rhône FM reported on Wednesday. The cases are now barred.
Three of the priests still live today. On the basis of testimonies, the priests were identified by around ten victims who reported to the diocese of Sion last year.
Many sufferers are silent
However, according to Gérard Falcioni, one of the victims, the numbers are far from reality yet. He had met around 50 victims in the canton of Valais alone, Falcioni told the radio station. Many of those affected did not want to speak publicly about the experience.
Falcioni is also of the opinion that the church has covered the pedophile priests, for example by transferring them to other parishes. Former bishops knew all this, but did nothing about it.
The bishop in charge, Jean-Marie Lovey, however, is convinced that his predecessors have not kept secret anything. Transfers had been commonplace in the past ensuring that a fallible priest could no longer come into contact with children. In this way was tried to prevent relapses.
Between 2010 and 2016 across Switzerland, the Swiss Bishops' Conference was reported more than 220 cases of sexual abuse of children and youths by Catholic order staff members. The cases in the canton of Valais (VS) are likely to appear in the statistics of 2017, which has not yet been published. (SDA)>
